Ceremonies
Supporing you through life’s transitions with ceremonies that acknowledge and celebrate your journey
Marking Life’s Rites of Passage
Ceremonies offer us a way to pause and mark the important moments of our lives — our rites of passage. They create space to honour where we’ve come from, where we are now, and what we are stepping into. Whether welcoming a baby, celebrating love, or moving through change, a ceremony helps us feel witnessed and supported as we cross a threshold from one chapter into another.
Below are some of the ceremonies I offer. If you have another occasion or transition you would like to mark, we can talk it through and create something meaningful and personal together.
Blessingway Ceremonies
A Blessingway Ceremony is a Native American ‘Navajo’ tradition designed to support, empower, and celebrate the mother-to-be or birth parent in the weeks leading up to birth. Unlike a traditional baby shower, the focus is on honouring the parent - offering strength, love, and encouragement - rather than gifts for the baby.
Trusted friends and family gather to create a safe, held space, sharing prayers, words of support, readings, and poetry to inspire and uplift the parent. The ceremony can be tailored to your wishes, and may include:
An opening meditation to create a grounded space
Hand, foot, and shoulder massage with essential oils
Belly painting
Creating a hanging mobile with beads, crystals, or charms, each blessed with intentions for the parent and baby
Sharing empowering birth and parenthood stories
Nourishing food prepared to enjoy together
I offer Baby Blessings in the comfort of your home or chosen space. Please get in touch for details and pricing, which can vary depending on location and your specific needs.
Closing of the Bones Ceremonies
A healing and nurturing ritual for the postpartum period
The Closing of the Bones is a sacred South American ritual to help a woman reconnect with herself physically, emotionally, and spiritually after birth. The ceremony offers a deeply held space to feel nurtured, honour your body, and release any unresolved emotions or trauma.
A ceremony may include:
Warm herbal foot bath and foot massage
Birth processing and sharing - reflecting on the journey of labour and birth
Rebozo pelvis rocking to realign the hips
Abdominal and hip massage to support circulation, hormones, and muscle tone
Womb connection and closing of the pelvis with the rebozo
Reiki, songs, prayers, and poetry
This ritual can be offered days, months, or even years after birth, and is also a supportive ceremony for healing after baby loss, termination, or womb trauma.
I am deeply grateful to my teacher, Sophie Messenger, for sharing this wisdom from Ecuadorian midwife and shaman, Dr. Rocio Alarcon.
Naming Ceremonies
A Naming Ceremony is a beautiful, intentional way to welcome a child into the world and celebrate their unique identity. It’s a special moment to honour the child, their family, and the community of loved ones surrounding them.
The ceremony can be tailored to your wishes, blending ritual, storytelling, and meaningful symbols to create a deeply personal and memorable experience. It may include:
A guided meditation to open the space
Sharing intentions, blessings, and hopes for the child
Rituals with natural elements, meaningful objects, or symbolic gifts
Readings, poetry, or songs chosen to reflect the child’s spirit and the family’s values
Time for family and friends to offer words of love, guidance, and support
I offer Naming Ceremonies in your home or another chosen space, creating a warm, safe, and celebratory environment. Each ceremony is unique and designed to honour the child and the journey of the family.
Wedding Ceremonies
I create personalised wedding ceremonies that reflect the unique story, values, and love of each couple. Each ceremony is shaped around your wishes and designed to feel authentic, heartfelt, and true to you.
My role is to hold a warm, supportive space where you and your loved ones can fully connect and celebrate this important moment in your lives.
A wedding ceremony may include:
Opening words or a short guided moment to welcome your guests
Reflections on the meaning of marriage and commitment
Your love story and journey together
Readings, poetry, or music
Personal vows or spoken promises
Optional rituals such as handfasting
Closing words to mark the beginning of your married life
Change feels lighter when it is witnessed and supported. I love seeing people step into new chapters with steadiness, trust, and a sense of their own inner strength.
